"Powder Heaven - Yellowstone Ski Lodge"

There is nothing worse then booking a ski holiday and spending two hours a day queuing for ski lifts. This has now become the norm with many of the en vogue resorts. The Journal finds one place that offers queue free skiing whilst still being a stone’s throw away from the trendy resorts.

Yellowstone Ski Lodge is perched high above the village of Saint-Foy-Tarentaise in the French Alps, and whilst you may not of heard of this small village, it is the perfect base for exploring some of Europe’s best slopes. It is just moments away from Val d’Isère, Paradiski and La Rosière, however St Foy itself has some breathtaking slopes and the best thing is they offer queue free skiing.

St Foy’s slopes can be enjoyed by both beginners and advanced skiers, however if you are looking for something more testing, then St Foy has some of the most amazing backcountry and off-piste runs runs in europe, which offer acres of untouched powder. If this isn’t adrenaline pumping enough you can organise a heli-ski trip to Italy from the heli pad just 100 meters away from your doorstep.

The Chalet itself is the perfect combination of the traditional meeting the modern. It has 6 en-suite bedrooms each individually and warmly decorated and a stylish open plan living space perfect for sitting down with friends after a hard days skiing. From the living space you can step out on to the terrace and enjoy the unbelievable views.

In terms of the facilities, Yellowstone certainly doesn’t fall short. After a long days skiing you have the option to jump into the outdoor hot tub, sweat off in the sauna or enjoy a massage in the treatment room, and if this doesn’t take your fancy then you can sit back and watch your favorite movie on the large flat screen.

Skiing holidays and holidays in general are all about spending time with the people you love, therefore Yellowstone comes with its own team of staff meaning you don’t have to lift a finger. The food in the Chalet is a real experience and is all prepared by the expert chef. In the evening you can have champagne and canapés around the fireplace before tuck into a three-course dinner. The Breakfasts can be light or hearty and afternoon tea will be prepared with freshly baked cakes to restock your energy levels.

Yellowstone is the best kept secret of the Alps, and for those fed up with spending half the day queuing for a ski lift, and love utter luxury, look no further.
